The main IRC channel is #lynxchan at Rizon.
I also created a side-channel with the same name at OFTC for TOR users.
Avoid using the channel at OFTC unless you REALLY can't or don't want to use Rizon to avoid fragmenting information exchange.

Is there any way to specify an ssl port other than 443 to be used for https?
lmaoo I missed your thread my dude, that is really hard to happen tbh.

But no, you can't.
ah damn. Well thanks anyways :)

I can't connect to https when running lynxchan through the reverse proxy, but I can connect to plain http. The ssl works fine when just running with the lynxchan command without the reverse proxy, but when I can't run it that way because it crashes after a few minutes.
1 post omitted.
And if you got a reverse proxy, why are you handling ssl on lynxchan instead of in the reverse proxy?
I was handling it with lynxchan because I couldn't access https with the reverse proxy.
It's no error, just a secure conmection failed when trying to access https through the browser.
I'm pretty sure you have to configure HTTPS on your reverse proxy to be able to use HTTPS through it. And I don't know if you could do that AND then have https on lynxchan. Even if you did, at that point it would be easier to justlet the reverse proxy funnele everything through http. Btw, are you positive you need a reverse proxy?
I thought you had to manage ssl through lynxchan even with the reverse proxy. Anyway I'll try to do it with the reverse proxy instead of lynxchan.
You only need the most outer layer of your stack to handle https.

Thumbnail images are really blurry for some reason.
2 posts omitted.
You mean the imageboard? vilechan.com
You reduced the thumbnail size without changing the css too. So the css stretches them.
Oh, it's probably because I'm using the lynxhub branch of penumbralynx css on normal penumbralynx.
I don't think so. The html doesn't play a role in that.

After enabling ssl, putting, the certificates in /lynxchan/src/ be and running lynxchan -r it says https connection failed and gives a type error that says something like require(....)secureconnection is not a function.
10 posts and 1 image omitted.
That pretty much explains it.
You are like, 6 out of 12 versions behind.
The recommended version for lynxchan 2.2 is node 10, but you can install node 12, it runs much faster and so far I couldn't find a single incompatibility.
Also, don't forget to remove the directory for npm before installing the new version. I mention it on the upgrade document.
I already ran apt-get upgrade and it didn't change it, is it a different package?
I install it from source code.
And while you are at it, you might want to make sure your mongodb version is the right one. That one I install from mongo's repository.

LynxChan runs correctly on port 8080 when using the command lynxchan, but it just says connection reset when trying to run it through an nginx reverse proxy. I did the setup and root setup correctly, so I don't know what the problem is. I am on Debian 9.5.

So just
curl localhost:8080
It says
curl: (7) Failed to connect to localhost port 8080: Connection refused
i got it, it's because the user node didn't have the correct permissions. thanks for your help.

New registered users do not receive emails. Anonymous 08/16/2019 (Fri) 19:39:02 No. 1024 [Reply]
New registered users do not receive emails.

The default setting used, not using Sendmail.
What is the reason? ?
1: do they have an e-mail attached to their accounts?
2: did you open your port 25/smtp?
3: do your host allows you to send e-mails?
4: have anyone else received e-mails at all ever?

Uploading mp3's sometimes fails Anonymous 08/15/2019 (Thu) 21:36:25 No. 1017 [Reply]
https://files.catbox.moe/f5af5y.mp3 returns 'A file had a format that is not allowed by the server.'
allowed mimes: image/png,image/jpeg,image/gif,image/bmp,video/webm,audio/mpeg,video/mp4,video/ogg,audio/ogg,audio/webm
>file --mime-type "05. Bitter Girl.mp3"
>05. Bitter Girl.mp3: audio/mpeg

any ideas what's going on?
1 post omitted.
got it, thanks. added these two to the allowed mimes: audio/mp3,audio/x-m4a
files can be uploaded now but they can't be played inline (clicking on the thumbnail opens the mp3 in a new tab as opposed to embedding the player)
anything I can do to fix it?
Is js working?
Nvm, the FE has a hardcoded list:

thumbs.playableTypes = [ 'video/webm', 'audio/mpeg', 'video/mp4', 'video/ogg', 'audio/ogg', 'audio/webm' ];
added these (PenumbraLynx/static/js/thumbs.js line 5)
thumbs.playableTypes = [ 'video/webm', 'audio/mpeg', 'video/mp4',
'video/ogg', 'audio/ogg', 'audio/webm', 'audio/mp3', 'audio/x-m4a' ];

works now, thanks again

I can't see configuration settings under general.json for the setup of email aside from:

>`emailSender`: e-mail to be used as sender on automated e-mails. Defaults to `noreply@mychan.com`.

So my question is, if I wanted to configure security and sender data would this need to be done directly by modifying the source code or would I need to do it by sendMail?
Correct. The engine sends e-mails directly through smtp if you don't opt to use sendmail. The only two things you can configure is the e-mail used as the sender and if you want it to be sent through sendmail or not.
k, thanks.
Similar question, is there any way to verify the emails sent through lynxchan using sendmail or should I code such check?
You would have to write an addon to interfere with the process and give you the information you want. Maybe sendmail can be configured to do that, but I don't know sendmail enough to be sure of that.

Code tag

in PenumbraLynx 2.2.x has no syntax highlighting. Is this gonna be implemented in future releases or should I change the css myself?
There is no syntax highlight and there are no plans of doing so. I don't think you would be to do that without an addon on the back-end, but go for it. Also, that's not dependent on the front-end.
